re.action
One of two inaugural exhibitions for the new arts center, Re.action is an exhibition that explores movement in art, including two and three dimensional works, with an emphasis on kinetic art as well as works that possess the illusion of movement. As the inaugural exhibit for a new arts building, Re.action is meant to amplify the energy level of the new space and encourage audience interaction. The goal of the exhibit is to prompt the audience to engage with the art—to push a button, to stand in a certain place, look a certain way, etc. To this end, Annmarie Garden seeks dynamic entries that will move the visitor to become a part of the art.
Olga Hirshhorn Recollects
The mezzanine level exhibit, Olga Hirshhorn Recollects, is an extraordinary survey of modern art, including works by Picasso, Matisse, and Miro. On loan from the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Washington, DC, this exhibit is composed of selected works from a large donation made by Mrs. Hirshhorn to the Corcoran.
