Public Art Projects
Free Summer Project for All Ages

Each summer, Annmarie Garden invites the public to participate in an art project designed for all ages and abilities. Visitors can stop by any day throughout the summer and lend their creativity to an artwork. The final components are assembled and installed by staff and volunteers, then displayed at the Garden from September to December. It remains installed through Artsfest and Halloween, allowing over 20,000 visitors to experience the art. Due to the generous donations of local sponsors, these projects are always free, and return visits are welcome!

PILLARS: Wishes for a Better World

This summer's project enabled visitors to turn recycled plastic bottles into an army of freestanding pillars. These primed and painted bottles were decorated with graffiti art and words of wisdom, sage advice, and wishes for the world. Pillars is installed in a clearing along the Walking Path and will remain on exhibit from September-November, during Artsfest and Halloween, allowing over 20,000 visitors to walk among the Pillars and read the positive messages. Don't miss your chance to walk among the Pillars and read the hopeful messages!

This year's project has been sponsored by The Tutoring Club of Prince Frederick, Maerten's On the Island, John Burroughs, and Flag Harbor Marine. Thanks to our sponsors for their generous support.
