We are pleased to announce the addition of a new
wildlife observation and education area at Annmarie!

Southern Maryland artist Parran Collery, has been commissioned to create 30 wildlife identification tiles that will be installed in the Creekside Overlook building at Annmarie. Inspired by scientific illustrations, the tiles are a beautiful way for guests of all ages to identify and appreciate the natural world of Annmarie. To complete this project, we are launching a fundraising campaign to pay for the tiles. We hope you will support this important project by adopting one of the wildlife tiles.

Wildlife Identification Tiles

30 beautifully handcrafted bird and butterfly tiles will be installed in the Creekside Overlook. The tiles will highlight species common to Annmarie Garden and St. John’s Creek, and provide guests the opportunity to identify what they see around them. Friends are invited to sponsor one of these beautiful tiles which celebrate the ecology of Annmarie.

Please Join our Adopt-a-Tile Campaign

Choose one (or more!) of the tiles and help us reach our goal of raising $15,000. With only 30 tiles to choose from, we encourage you to make your selection today and join this exclusive community of donors. Please review the tile options and choose your favorite creature to adopt! Donations to this project are tax-deductible and will benefit Ann’s Circle, Inc, the non-profit organization that supports Annmarie Garden. When you adopt a tile, you are adding a beautiful work of art to Annmarie, and adding your name to our list of generous supporters.

Each donor will be acknowledged on a plaque in the Overlook - and will receive an exclusive keepsake tile, created by the artist, that will remind you of your generosity.

Where Art & Nature Meet!

Located in the Demas Family Discovery Garden, the Creekside Overlook provides a wonderful lookout station from which to observe and learn about wildlife on St. John’s Creek. Plans are underway to add new elements in and around the Overlook, including three nature trails, an outdoor classroom, a native pollinator garden, and educational displays, making the Demas Family Discovery Garden a wonderful place to learn about nature through first-hand observation and exploration.

The Demas Family Discovery Garden

Located along the banks of St. John’s Creek, the Creekside Overlook is part of the Demas Family Discovery Garden. The Discovery Garden owes its inception to Audrey and Bill Demas of Naples, Florida. Mr. & Mrs. Demas, who have business ties to Southern Maryland, provided the initial funds to begin designing the creekside area. In recognition of their on-going support and belief in the project, we are delighted to name the Discovery Garden in their honor. Work is underway to add new elements in and around the Overlook, including an outdoor classroom, a native pollinator garden, nature trails, and educational displays. Together, these elements will make the Discovery Garden a wonderful place to learn about nature through first-hand observations and hands-on lessons. The Demas Family Discovery Garden is a wonderful place for guests of all ages to nurture an appreciation and understanding of the natural world of Annmarie.

Annmarie is an exceptional place where visitors of all ages enjoy the convergence of art and nature. Your support of the Adopt-a-Tile program will allow us to add this beautiful observation area to Annmarie.
