MLK DAY Activities
*** Appropriate for all ages!***
King left us with a wealth of wisdom on how to create a more just, humane, and peaceful world.
We celebrate his legacy with art-inspired experiences centered around his nonviolent philosophy.

Celebrating Community

Visiting artist G.M. Webb will lead visitors in the creation of an uplifting community art project, "Faces of a Dream" inspired by the dream of Rev. Dr. King, Jr. Meet the artist, learn about his process, and work to create a unique collaborative art project.

Our Creative Community Project: Faces of a Dream

Visiting Baltimore artist Gary Webb will guide visitors through the creation of a community art project titled, “Faces of a Dream.”  Inspired by the art of Mr. Webb, the project invites guests of all ages to create a wire mask using using the artist’s “webbing technique” of twisting and bending different kinds of wire into a self-portrait mask. Each wire portrait will be added to an ever growing wall of faces, celebrating the diversity and beauty of our community. Materials appropriate for different ages and abilities will be available.

A Tent of Many Colors -- the Communal Coloring Tent Returns!

The popular community coloring tent will transform the Murray Arts Building into gathering space that is both peaceful and inspiring. Step inside the tent of many colors and enjoy the therapeutic qualities of  coloring! Coloring supplies will be available for use and all are welcome. Choose a design, find a seat, make a friend, relax and enjoy the atmosphere. A great space for all ages to enjoy.
