Garden Rules

1. Pets must be on a leash and restrained by the owner at all times. Owners must clean up after pets. Please bring your own poop bags. We do not allow pets during special events or festivals, unless otherwise noted.

2. Do not touch or climb the sculpture. Oils from your skin or objects placed on sculpture can damage it. Please note that the water in the Tonger fountain is not treated. Please do not play in the water or climb on the oysterman.

3. For the health, safety, and comfort of our guests, smoking and vaping are not allowed at Annmarie Garden.

4. No skateboarding in the garden.

5. No littering. Please deposit your trash or recyclables in the proper receptacles.

6. Outside alcoholic beverages are prohibited.

7. Fires are not permitted; this includes grills, campfires, fireworks, and candles.

8. Drones, kites, and other aerial equipment are prohibited.

9. Balls, bats, and other toys and sports equipment are not allowed.

Well-behaved dogs are always welcome at Annmarie except during our special events and festivals. Please check the pet policy for each event before you come.  Please note that well-behaved dogs are welcome at Garden In Lights, but only on Pet Night. Consult the Garden In Lights calendar for details.

If you bring your dog to Annmarie to take a walk, please observe the following:

1. Service dogs are always welcome at Annmarie!
2. Pets are allowed in the Murray Arts Building for a pass-through, meaning they can visit the Front Desk to check in and pass through the building to enter the Wooded Path.
3. Pets are NOT allowed in the galleries, Nature Nook, Gift Shop, or artLAB.
4. Pets are NOT allowed in the Studio School, Artist House, or Clay Studio.
5. Pets must be vaccinated against rabies.
6. Pets must be confined, leashed or otherwise under the physical control of a person at all times. Leashes may not exceed six feet in length.
7. Pets may not be tied to trees, bushes, tables or furniture even when the owners are present.
8. Pets must be well-behaved at all times.
9. Pet owners are required to pick up after their pets and properly dispose of all pet droppings in trash receptacles.  Please bring your own poop bags!
10. Any pet that is noisy, dangerous, intimidating or destructive will not be allowed to remain in the garden.

Why leash your dog? (adopted from the American Dog Owners Association)

1. Leashes protect dogs from becoming lost.
2. Unleashed dogs intimidate other guests and their dogs depriving them of the peace the Garden provides.
3. Unleashed dogs harass, injure, and sometimes kill wildlife.
4. A leashed dog’s keen senses can enhance your awareness of nearly wildlife or other Garden visitors.
5. Unleashed dogs increase the probability of dogs being banned from your favorite public lands.
6. Failure to leash your dog may result in a fine.

We encourage guests to explore and enjoy the beauty of Annmarie!  Guests are welcome to paint, draw, sketch, photograph, or take videos of the lovely views to be found in the garden.  We do ask that you review the following information and contact the office with any questions.

Individual, Private Use

We do not place restrictions on photographs or videos taken during a visit to Annmarie. As long as you have checked in as a guest at our Front Desk and made your admission donation, you are welcome to explore the grounds and take photographs/videos for personal use. Please respect the privacy of other guests and do not take photographs or videos of guests not in your group, including underage children.

Professional Photographers and Photography Sessions
Annmarie is often the backdrop for weddings, engagement, and graduation photographs. We are happy to welcome photographers and their clients to our beautiful sculpture garden. To schedule an appointment to take photos at Annmarie, please contact our Marketing Director at 410-326-4640 or [email protected].  There may be a modest use fee.

Media
We are happy to allow members of the Media to take photographs and videos of the garden and grounds. Please contact our Marketing Director at 410-326-4640 or [email protected] to present your credentials and/or schedule an appointment. When photographing works of art, we ask that you follow standard protocol in the identification of the work. In addition, if you take photographs of guests, particularly children, you must secure permission before publication or posting of photographs.

Photographers associated with a scheduled Annmarie wedding or other private party
Photographers who have been hired by an Annmarie rental client are welcome to make use of the property for photo shoots associated with the client. Please email the Rental Coordinator to schedule your session. Please note that sessions that take place outside of normal business hours may be subject to a modest fee. The Rental Coordinator can be reached at 410-326-4640 or [email protected]. When you arrive at Annmarie for your scheduled shoot, please check in at the Arts Building and to provide the name of the rental client. In addition, please note that photographers who are associated with an Annmarie rental client are eligible to have their name and contact information added to our preferred vendor list. Please email [email protected] for information about this process.

Annmarie Photography Policy
Management reserves the right to take photographs of any guests to Annmarie at any time and at any event or gathering.  Guests who do not wish to have their photograph taken should notify a staff member.  Parents with children registered in an Annmarie class who do not wish their child to be photographed should indicate this on the registration form.

From Washington DC (about 60 minute drive): Take Route 4 South, Exit 11 off Capital Beltway (to Prince Frederick). Continue on 4 South, following signs to Solomons. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn and Ruddy Duck. Garden is less than 1/4 mile on left.

From Baltimore (Beltway I-695): Take I-97 (Annapolis) to Route 301 South (Bowie). Continue on 301 to Route 4 and follow signs to Solomons. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn and Ruddy Duck. Garden is less than 1/4 mile on left.

From Annapolis: Follow Route 2 South towards Prince Frederick/Solomons. Left (South) onto Route 2/4 at Sunderland light. Left on Dowell Road at Hilton Garden Inn and Ruddy Duck. Garden is less than 1/4 mile on left.
