This exhibit is concerned with the discoveries that artists make at the seaside. How do the sounds, tides, colors, and textures inspire artistic expression? How does the sea affect the content, mood, and execution of works of art? How do artists incorporate these experiences - and even the objects they find at the beach - into their art? Works of art that explore these and other complementary issues, will be included in the show with a goal of creating a rich and textured exploration of our relationship to the seaside.

Art Blooms is a weekend exhibit featuring the work of more than 30 floral designers from across the region. Each floral designer is assigned a work of art in the Main Gallery or the Mezzanine Gallery and asked to create an arrangement inspired by that work of art. The results are surprising, beautiful, and provocative - and not to be missed. 2014 will mark the fifth year for Art Blooms, an exhibit co-hosted by the Calvert Garden Club and Ann's Circle of Annmarie Garden. Admission is FREE!

This exhibit brings to life fantastical myths, legends, fables, folktales, fairy tales, and the like. Around the world, from prehistoric times to the present, artists have been part of the story-telling process, giving shape and form to fantastical stories of supernatural beings, great heroes and heroines, cautionary tales, magical creatures, and more. In ancient times, artists commonly rendered images of these stories on walls, pottery, statuary, tapestries, and paintings. In more recent times, books, graphic novels, movies, apps, and games have expanded the way we experience these stories. No matter the time period, the artist becomes the story-teller and shares their spectacular vision through their art. For this exhibit, artists were invited to submit works that tell fantastical stories. The result is a vibrant and diverse selection that speak to the many ways artists enhance and bring to life myths and legends.
Members of the Color & Light Society will host a spring show and sale featuring paintings, sculpture, watercolors, and more!
