We invite you to consider supporting one of these programs:

Expand the Butterfly Garden – our wonderful caretaker, Caleb Clark, has been working over the past two years to create a Butterfly Garden. With help from the Master Gardeners, he has created a lovely area adjacent to the Arts Building. Donate to this fund and your support will allow Caleb to continue his expansion!

Memorial Planting Fund – is there someone special you would like to honor? Consider contributing to the Memorial Planting Fund. The memory of your loved one will live on in the native plants and trees of the sculpture garden.

Children’s Discovery Garden & Nature Trail – plans are underway to create a nature trail that leads young visitors on an educational walk through the woods. The Nature Trail will lead kids to the east end of the property where they will find the Discovery Garden situated along St. John's Creek. The Discovery Garden will include a wildlife observation station, native plants, and natural play elements. Parents will love seeing their kids engage with and learn about nature through first-hand observations and hands-on lessons.

Landscaping Around The Oyster Tonger It was Francis Koenig's wish that the first sculptural work installed at Annmarie be a memorial to the people he greatly admired - oyster tongers.  In the early 1990s, artist Antonio Tobias Mendez, was selected through a national competition to design the memorial.  The artist's intent was to celebrate a people of pride, character, and integrity; to create a feeling for their space; to symbolize the elements of their existence; and, to invoke a sense of timelessness and enduring quality.  The Oyster Tonger, A Chesapeake Waterman, was completed and dedicated in 1994.  Tobias's original design included landscaping around the fountain, but sadly a lack of funds prevented the completion of this portion of the project.  A decade later, our hope is to finally complete this important element of the project using native plants.
