Artist-in-Residence Community Arts Program
Annmarie Garden’s Artist-in-Residence Community Arts Program supports artists who want to develop collaborative community projects or public art installations. Residents engage visitors directly in the creative process, building connections through shared artistic experiences.
Professional and emerging visual, musical, and literary artists may apply. Artists are selected through an internal or peer-review process, and most residencies accommodate one artist at a time.
Spring: Artists in Action
Short studio residencies invite artists to create on-site and interact with Annmarie Garden visitors. Multiple artists may be selected.
Residency: One to two weeks, March–May
Applications: Accepted January–March on a rolling basis
Summer Community Arts Residency
Artists propose an engaging community art project for visitors of all ages. Preference is given to projects incorporating recycled or repurposed materials. The selected artist must work directly with visitors for at least 24 hours each week.
Residency: Two to three months, June–August
Application deadline: April 1
MLK Winter Residency
Artists propose a community arts project inspired by the life, vision, and work of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The residency coincides with Annmarie Garden’s annual MLK Days program in January and may continue into February. Artists must be comfortable engaging visitors, tour groups, and field trips.
Projects may become temporary or long-term installations in the Sculpture Garden or galleries.
Residency: Three days to two weeks
